Seniors

Ellen Carpenter loves animals and over the years has had many dogs and cats.

Ellen shared her apartment at Eagle’s Manor with Miss Pansy thanks to the Pet Paw-see’s Seniors for Seniors foster cat program.

Ellen had been living alone for a few years. When Ellen learned that she could have a cat with some help from the Pet Paw-see, she wanted to know more.

In this program, each senior is matched with a senior cat and a mentor. Pet Paw-see Cat Rescue takes responsibility for any veterinary care the cat might need, and the mentor takes the kitty to her appointments.

On hearing this, Ellen thought, “That’s grand. This is the route I’m going.” Miss Pansy didn’t take long to bond with Ellen, who is blind. “It’s the most wonderful program. Older kitties and doggies need love too,” Ellen said. “Miss Pansy senses my moods. If I’m not feeling well or feeling sad, she’s right there draped across my chest. She purrs and purrs, and loves to cuddle.”

“I’ve got somebody to care for who needs my love,” Ellen said. “She’s my baby.”

Compassionate "Senior for Senior" program helps senior cats find homes with loving seniors

Studies show that companion animals provide many health benefits for older people.

If you or someone you know is a senior who could benefit from a senior cat companion, call us! 406.231.1132

Please Note: We don't match kittens with older seniors.

While kittens are adorable, they are very energetic and often underfoot, which can increase trip hazards and accidental scratches from sharp little nails and teeth.

Adult cats are calmer, just as loving, and often a better fit for a quieter home. Kittens can live 15–20 years or longer, and choosing a cat whose life stage aligns more closely with yours helps ensure lifelong stability and peace of mind.

We’d be happy to help you find a wonderful companion that’s the right match for you. And because senior cats are sometimes difficult to place, it's a win-win for both.

We will feature adoptable senior cats here when available!

Every cat in our care needs food, shelter, and medical attention long before they ever meet their family. In some years, our vet bills alone top $100,000, and as an all-volunteer team, we rely entirely on donations to cover it.

Whether it's a one-time gift or a monthly commitment, your support goes straight to the cats who need it most, especially the ones who need extra care to get there.
