What a difference …
Aster had been left by someone who had moved out of state. Because the people said she had been a Pet Paw-see cat, we took her in. As it turns out, we could find no records on her and she hadn’t been spayed, so we don’t think she was one of ours, However, we are treating her as one of our own and she is now spayed. When we took her in, we didn’t have a foster home available. So, she had been staying at a vet clinic and was not doing well there. She was very frightened and sometimes hissy with clinic staff. We couldn’t get her into a carrier to bring her to Petco to show her.
Because Pam, our photographer, couldn’t get a photo of her at Petco as we usually do, Pam went to the clinic to try to get a portrait. Little Aster wasn’t showing her best side, but after a couple of minutes, she let Pam pet her a little. It didn’t take long for Aster to warm up to human touch and show that she wasn’t a “bad cat.” Pam asked Lauren, a fellow feline fancier, to foster Aster. Within a day, this scared and lonely cat was in her foster mom’s lap purring up a storm.
Now, we can learn what Aster’s true personality is and we hope to be able to bring her to Petco so she can get more exposure to potential adopters.
